live your own life

"And do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Romans 12:2

kelsorama makes me rather happy

"Nowadays, post-modernism makes it hard for people to associate muscle-bound, leather-clad, metal-studded oiled young men with heterosexual machismo."---ashley pomeroy

probobly the best description of the monks insult contests i have ever heard:

Devon: what the hell is going on? It's like two vagrants vomited on a coffee shop poet

Unlikely events occur: Your fellow noders (4): futilelord r6144 Typhen is bouncing towards a smurf Deejah

i am nonplussed with life but am willing to change my opinion

As anyone who has dealt with me can tell you, i have a terrible memory. That fact coupled with the fact that i spend most of my time on E2 between the hours of 10pm-4am means that i may have no idea what your messaging me about. Please give context, because i'll be damned if i know what i said to you at 3am this morning...

i'm by all my associates account a bear, i sleep a lot, i eat a lot, and i don't move fast or get angry unless i have to...

Proof that i'm not that far out of line for owning one pair of pants and a few shirts:

Albert Einstein would buy 10 of the exact same suit, line them up in his closet and then wear them one by one. When asked why he did such a silly and bizarre thing he said something to the extent that it uses too much thought energy to figure out what to wear today when in actuality it doesn't matter at all--at least, not compared to relativity theory.

So at least in theory there is some sort of really high level thinking going on in my noggin.

Fight insanity with insanity.

Other than that i'm a musician of diverse taste, i play (to a varying degree of ability):

i hate computers, lets make that clear, i hate these magic grey toasters.. i grew up primarily in rural virginia, we had a tv with 2 channels. We turned the knob with a pair of pliers, and until about age 10 that was the extent of my high technology interaction. i am not a computer person.

Anything else i'm forgetting probably has to do more with personality which you should just glean from my writing, think blunt, that's the way i operate.

the drunkmonks are an association of gentleman (open to ladies but none particularly seem to want to join). Who like to mouth off lots of lofty and fancy ideas. But in truth, the organization is merely an umbrella to cover our behavior with some sort of illusion of moving forward and accomplishing something. That and a branch of the cayenne addicts international support group; "staying clean and cool together" repeat after me "not everything needs to be spicy and delicious, i will not put cayenne on everything"......God i'm a dirty liar....there isn't a food product in creation that wouldn't benefit from a little cayenne.

This is harder than it looks.

Things that may or may not be of interest to you:

Since this list seems to be growing i thought it would be funny to point out that i am in one way or another directly responsible for the following people being here. Be that for good or ill....consider this also my list of noders i've met.

bookreader, he may kill any insects around him, but in terms of people he only kills hobo's, so your probably pretty safe. He's also a fellow monk, so he's got that going for him as well.

sarabandegreen has started writing too, more rumblings from the monks camp.

antimemory he needs ideas on what to write about, help him if you would. not that he's ever on though...

kelsorama touches herself when she thinks about me, probably checking to make sure i didn't steal any valuables.

aftereight who is lazy and has yet to write anything... Despite how knowledgeable she seems to think herself.

beaver_fever_06 don't let the name fool you...

imhran who is to busy finding himself to write anything on here

intravenousants gave this, my favorite little corner of the internet, a chance and then forgot all about it because that's what she does, she ignores my advice as a matter of habit and despite being a writer refuses to use this site as a resource

Yakushin for getting strong, and growing

Where are you and what do you look like?

Check out my now defunct band: www.incidentalradio.com (we're on the rotation) listen for "the drunk monks"

"I know this from my own experience. In my years of communicating concepts and conducting training, I have run into them again and again. All I can do is attempt to show them that the only thing to seek is the true self within. Their personal answers are to be found there and there alone. I communicate that the basics of spirituality are self-responsibility and self-actualization. But most of the true believers just tell me that i'm not spiritual and go looking for someone who will give them the dogma and structure they desire.

Never underestimate the potential danger of these people. They can easily be molded into fanatics who will gladly work and die for their holy cause. It is a substitute for their lost faith in themselves and offers them as a substitute for individual hope. The moral majority is made up of true believers. All cults are composed of true believers. You'll find them in politics, churches, businesses, and social cause groups. they are the fanatics in these organizations. " -the battle for your mind

"Capitalism is probably the first instance of a cult that creates guilt not atonement....The nature of the religious movement which is capitalism entails the endurance right to the end, to the point where god, too, finally takes on the entire burden of guilt, to the point where the universe has been taken over by that despair which is actually its secret hope. Capitalism is entirely without precedent, in that it is a religion which offers not the reform of existence but it's complete destruction. It is the expansion of despair, until despair becomes a religious state of the world in the hope that this will lead to salvation." - walter benjamin

rootbeer277: "wikipedia is a great metaphor. it's an enormous collection of compromises that nobody is happy with, but at least nobody is accountable or responsible for them."

Everyone loves a little wiki bashing.
