There are thirteen National Parks in New Zealand, predominantly on the South Island.

New Zealand also contains two World Heritage Sites – the first is the Tongariro National Park on the Central Plateau of the North Island, and the second comprises sections of Westland, Fiordland, Mount Cook and Mount Aspiring National Parks in the South.
